Dusk, Midnight, The Red Sun Rises, Day Break 1 and 2

Thank You

A handmade thank you for a friend

Bright and Warm

Some cutie cartoon characters to brighten the day...

Duck

Girl with a Bag

After many weeks away, back to paper cutting and fingers crossed finishing (albeit very late)  the 100 days project.  Had lots of fun playing with the new effects in Picasa, and my new scanner which does a much better job of capturing the actual colors of the piece.  The Polaroid at the bottom is the actual paper cut.

Day 71- Karate Beaver

Sometimes you just need a hand...or in this case two, super karate-chopping hands.  Watch out for the Kung Fu beaver. Hi-yah!

Day 70-Lady with a hat silhouette

Wow only a month to go! I can't believe it.  I am loving using shapes and bright colors, and just cutting out silhouettes.  It is simple and fun!  Here's to the last month of the project.

Day 66-I'm Engaged Card Mock-up

There is nothing more exciting than telling all your best girlfriends the good news.  Lots of my friends are getting married this year!  Yea!

Day 65-Out to solve the mystery

Don't worry this guy is on the case of the missing arm from the previous post with his monacle and no nonsense mustache.  Suspect number 1 and 2....the cats!

I will be posting sporadically the next couple of days due to some computer issues that have cropped up this week.  Until the next time!

Day 64-Wedding without flowers

I am fairly certain my cats (who love to eat my papercuts) ran off with the arm and bouquet to this since it was missing this morning...unfortunately I don't have time to make a new one right now, so arm-and bouquet- to come later:)

Day 63-Make a Wish

Day 58-60: "I Breathe Out the Stars"

From concept sketch to finished product this one took a couple of days of paper cutting, so I am posting it as a multiple day cut. I can't believe we are already on day 60!!!! Lately,I am really drawn to simple shapes and graphic colors that are reminiscent of old hand-painted ads.  Simple and bold was what I was going for and it was fun to spend time making a larger piece.

Day 57-Beach Babe

Day 56-Cheers Darling!

Two concept designs for a birthday card for a friend.  What do you think-do you prefer the black and white or color?

Day 55-Coo Coo Ka Choo, Mrs. Washington

  1.  I'm a few days behind due to my first blade injury.  I got new x-acto blades and the one I was using was so sharp I didn't even notice that I had cut myself until, like a really bad paper cut, it started to smart with a fury that seems unbelievable given the smallness of the cut itself!  Anyway, a tube of super glue later and some band-aids and I am back in the proverbial saddle.  This was my original concept for the piece "Winter," however when I finished the concept sketch it just looked too much like George Washington with the white powdery wig...so I re purposed it (I liked the shapes) and renamed it "Mrs. Washington"...it seemed fitting.

Day 54-Flower Lamp

The beginnings of an overlay for my lamp.  I saw some beautiful paper cut shades and wanted to capture the look.

Day 49-Silhouettes

I got a book called "The Forgotten Art of the Silhouette" and decided to try some more free-hand cuts. The first one is of my husband and looks nothing like him...at all!!!...but it was fun to try.  The others are just free-hand, allowing me to practice different techniques that are in the book.  I now understand the importance of having real paper cutting scissors and silhouette paper!!! Using card stock and kitchen scissors  was, hmmmmm, interesting....however, my husband did a portrait of me and made it look so easy! Show off:)
