Day 6- I heart comic books

I love comic books.  In fact, if you had asked me who I was going to marry when I was really little I would have said Wolverine or Gambit.  I was inspired by Dave Pender's 100 days project (link) in which he is creating a comic book character each day, how cool! Here I took the original cut out on the top and adjusted the shadows in Picasa to get the resulting image...a bit like my favorite shadowy fight scene in Kill Bill.

  1. If I could, I would marry Rogue. I'm very flattered that my project inspired you to do this piece for day 6. By the way your work is very cool.

  2. Thanks Dave...I always thought Rogue was so awesome too! Who didn't want to fly when they were little? Plus she was a bit more bad a*@ than Jean. Looking forward to see more of your sketches, they are great.

  3. Jean, Rogue and Jubilee were like the Crone, the Maiden, and the child in my comic book religion. :) I know Jean was too young to really be a crone, but I saw her as the mother of the team, the wise woman. Rogue was the headstrong awesome woman I wanted to be, and Jubilee was just me. :)

Beautiful piece! Can't wait to see more. :)

  4. I think you got is spot on Lonnie:) Jean was always kind of the wet blanket, Rogue was like "whatever"- the maverick of the group...just too cool for school:), and Jubilee was the young loose cannon. I was definitely more like Jubilee, wishing I was Rogue too! How funny. I am glad I was not the only young girl with comic book fantasies!

  5. I feel like I missed out in my childhood; I was never exposed much to comics. I made up for that with manga for the 8 months I was unemployed.

Those were dark times, dark times...
